Safety is Our Top Priority

We understand that most Interactors are under 18 years of age, and many may have never attended an international conference or convention. That’s why our planning committee is comprised of an entire team of Rotarians and Rotaractors who are dedicated to providing logistical support, as well as helping take care of safety for the Interact International Convention on June 21, 2018.

We’re there at the Interact International Convention

As soon as you drop off Interactors to us at 8:30 AM on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Hart House, our team of adult chaperones they’ll be in the safe care of our team of adult chaperones who will remain on-site throughout the day to handle any emergencies that may arise. All Interactors under the age of 18 will need to be picked up by an adult chaperone no later than 4:30 PM that day. Our events are scheduled to end between 4:15 PM and 4:30 PM that same-day.

Make sure minors travel with an adult chaperone

While we do not provide chaperones outside of our Interact International Convention hours of 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Thursday, June 21, 2018, we encourage that you ensure that all minors traveling to Toronto (whether that is local for you or international travel) are accompanied at all times by an adult chaperone. This could be a parent, a guardian, a family member, a family friend, a youth protection trained Rotarian, a school advisor, or a teacher, among other possibilities.

We also strongly recommend that all travelers coming to Toronto purchase trip insurance. It’s just a good idea in the offchance that any emergencies happen.

Filling out vital information on the Parent Consent Form

Please note that all participants under the age of 18 will also receive via email a parent consent form that will need to be signed and returned to us in order to attend the Interact International Convention. The consent form will also ask important questions such as medical conditions, allergies, consent to provide medical services in emergencies, and an emergency contact. It is important to review the form thoroughly, and also talk to your minor about what to do in case of emergencies.

All attendees: Please note that sharp objects and weapons are not allowed at our event. If found on you, they will be confiscated or you will be asked to leave immediately. For minors, your emergency contact will be called immediately to pick you up.
